MARC Soliciting Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality Proposals

The Mid-America Regional Council is soliciting proposals for transportation projects that improve air quality.

Under the federal Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality (CMAQ) program, MARC is expected to award approximately $6.2 million in federal fiscal year 2009 funding to projects that increase transit use, reduce congestion on roadways, promote bicycling, walking and alternative fuel vehicles, and retrofit trucks and buses with emissions controls.

The deadline for submitting proposals is 5:00 p.m. central standard time on Monday, March 3, 2008.

Only local, regional and state governments are eligible to apply, but private-sector organizations may partner with eligible public entities to submit applications. More information is available at http://www.marc.org/transportation/cmaq/overview.htm.

An optional workshop will provide an overview of the CMAQ process and assistance in filling out applications. For more information email cmaq@marc.org or call 816-474-4240.
