"Green" Gas Station Opens in Kansas City

A new green fuel station will promote the benefits of using alternative fuels, and other ‘green’ practices, when pulling up to the pump.

Zarco 66 Earth Friendly Fuels in Lawrence, Kan., is selling only biodiesel and ethanol blends. The fuels are blended at the facility and many blend levels are available. In addition to educating the public on the alternative fuels they are also working to educate the public on environmental sustainability.

B5 Gets Texas Approval
A B5 blend was tested to compare its performance to the performance of Texas Low Emission Diesel (TXLED).  The State found, and EPA concurred, that the emissions from B5 were comparable to the emissions of a TXLED- compliant diesel fuel.  The TXLED diesel gets a 5.7% reduction in NOx emissions compared to federal ULSD. TXLED- compliant diesel must meet federal sulfur standards.

First-Time California Diesel Rule For In-Use Engines Eyed By Other States

California's controversial effort to adopt first-time emissions rules for existing off-road diesel engines is being followed closely by other states, which may consider adopting the same rules in order to force the construction sector to cut emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) much faster than EPA requires.
